JOB SUMMARY
• Manage, provide and develop a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the Surgical Directorate wards and clinical areas, in accordance with Trust policies.
• To be responsible for evaluating prescribing patterns, drug usage, expenditure forecasting and provision of monthly expenditure reports to the Surgical directorate.
• Plan, organise and conduct audit within both the pharmacy department and the Surgical directorate.
• To maintain a high level of pharmaceutical input and support, as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal and safe medicines usage
• To develop, advise on and implement procedures, guidelines and policies either local or national within area of responsibility as required
• To be a trainee pharmacist tutor and be responsible for their training and appraisal
• To act as a lead for the training and development of the rotational band 6 and 7 pharmacists during their Surgery rotations.
• To be a practice tutor and educational facilitator to pharmacists taking the JPB postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice
• To assist in the training, development and supervision of ward-based Pharmacy technicians and assistants
• To work as an independent prescriber, or work towards gaining the relevant qualification, in accordance with a defined scope of practice agreed by the NMP Group
• To help with multidisciplinary training to nurses, doctors and other Healthcare professionals
• Participate in the provision of general pharmacy services such as dispensing for discharge, weekends, public holidays, late duty and on-call duties
